Why a Flared Foot Bar?

When doing the warmup footwork we strengthen the quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves and inner and outer thighs.

With a wider foot position on the wider bar we encourage more hip flexion which increases load on the adductors and the glutes, which increases overall lower body development. Also you can get more stretch and length in the Achilles tendon and muscles in the groin.

The groin muscles play a significant role in various activities that involve movements such as running, jumping, kicking, and changing directions. Strengthening the groin muscles is advantageous

Stronger adductor muscles helps to stabilize your pelvis and hips, which is crucial for maintaining proper alignment and preventing injury.

When standing most people find they have better hip mobility with a wider stance which allows you to improve your squat depth. With a wider footbar we can improve this ability.

When performing a plié in ballet, the primary muscle engagement is similar in both first and second position (quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, calves), but the wider stance in second position places a greater emphasis on the adductor muscles (inner thighs) due to the increased outward rotation of the legs, making them work harder to maintain alignment compared to the more turned-in position of first position; essentially, second position pliés target the inner thighs more prominently than first position pliés.

The wider foot bar allows you to stretch and strengthen these very important stabilizing muscles.
